Mike Miller
Production Manager
Load Star
Celebrating 30 Years of Dedication and Excellence
This February, we are thrilled to recognize and celebrate our STAR Employee of the Month, Mike Miller. Mike has been an integral part of the Load Star team for an incredible 30 years, demonstrating unwavering commitment, leadership, and expertise as our Production Manager. His journey with Load Star is nothing short of inspiring, and his dedication to the company and his team is a testament to his outstanding work ethic and character.
Mike joined the Load Star team at the young age of 24. After attending college, he spent a few years working in a plant in Toccoa. However, fate had other plans for him. A friend encouraged him to apply for a job at another business, but due to an incorrect set of directions, Mike walked into Load Star instead. That unforeseen mistake turned into a lifelong career. At the time, Chris Moon was the General Manager, and after a quick interview, it was clear that Mike was the perfect fit. And the rest, as they say, is history.
“Mike is the heart of our team—a dedicated leader who consistently goes above and beyond for Load Star. As Production Manager, he has cultivated an outstanding production staff, setting the bar high for quality and efficiency. His hard work and leadership are truly appreciated, and it’s an absolute pleasure to work with him.” – Stephen Cain, Load Star General Manager
Mike is a man of many talents, with an impressive background in baseball. He played for four years in college, serving as the team captain and excelling as a left fielder—though he had the ability to play any position as needed. Starting as a designated hitter, he quickly transitioned to left field, where he became known for catching anything that came his way. One of his most cherished memories is playing in the College World Series during his sophomore year, where his first hit came against none other than Mike Mussina of Stanford. Competing in regionals, being featured on ESPN, and playing in the College World Series are moments he will never forget. His passion for baseball continued beyond his college years, as he has coached or attended 74 baseball camps throughout his life. Coaching and leadership have always come naturally to him, shaping his approach to teamwork and management at Load Star.
Mike started his career at Load Star as a second-shift supervisor, working tirelessly alongside his team to fulfill orders efficiently and effectively. His hard work and dedication earned him a promotion to first-shift supervisor, and soon after, he transitioned into his role as Production Manager—a position he has held for 24 years. Throughout his career, he has witnessed and adapted to many changes, particularly in automation, which has significantly enhanced production efficiency.
When asked about his experience at Load Star, Mike had this to say:
“This is an incredible company to work for. I have always had great managers here—Barron, Chris, Westley, and now Stephen. They are an incredible team and great guys to work for. This company is a family company that truly puts family first.”
Mike attributes much of his success to the amazing team he works with every day. His main responsibility is ensuring that everyone is performing their duties correctly, with the ultimate goal of producing as many high-quality trusses as safely and efficiently as possible.
One of the best pieces of advice he received came from Chris Moon:
“If everyone loves you 100% of the time, you’re probably not doing your job right. On the other hand, if people hate you 100% of the time, you’re also not doing your job right. Do what is right, and people will respect that.”
Out of all the incredible memories Mike has made at Load Star, one of the most rewarding experiences of his career is getting to work alongside his daughter, Brittany. Brittany, a truss designer at Load Star, has been with the company for almost two years. Mike cherishes the opportunity to work with her and enjoys their daily lunch breaks together.
“Besides God, family is the most important thing to me. My wife, my kids and my 3 dogs are spoiled.” Mike.
When he’s not overseeing production at Load Star, Mike dedicates his time to coaching baseball lessons, training anywhere from 8 to 17 students a week. His love for the game remains as strong as ever. Additionally, many may not know that Mike also had a successful stint in dirt track racing, winning multiple championships throughout his racing career.
Mike Miller embodies everything it means to be a STAR employee. His unwavering dedication, leadership, and passion for his work have left a lasting impact on Load Star. His 30 years of service are a testament to his loyalty and commitment to excellence. We are incredibly grateful to have Mike as a part of our team and look forward to many more years of success together.
Thank you, Mike, for all that you do. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed, and we are proud to celebrate you as our STAR Employee of the Month!
