Penfield Addiction Ministries
Harbin Lumber Company is a proud supporter of Penfield Addiction Ministries, a nonprofit organization committed to providing rehabilitation care for men and women struggling with substance abuse. Beginning in 1979, Penfield addiction ministries has helped thousands of members and expanded to 3 locations with each campus continually adding expansion to meet the needs of members.
Combined currently at all three locations there is a total of 35 Employees, 128 beds to use for the program, and an average of 550 admissions a year. Even though each facility has a specific target and strategy for rehab, they all have the same mission, to reclaim lives through Christ and Christian love. They use a faith-based training with biblical principles to encourage the steps of rehab. Mike Walker, the CEO of Penfield Ministries said, “We have a great compliment of staff here at Penfield Ministries that is needed for the program.” The Penfield Staff is made up of a wide variety of professionals from counselors, medical staff, and office personnel. Everyone holds a viable place in this ministry.
The main campus is located in Union Point, Ga and was the original site of Mercer University. This location currently serves as the Men’s 6-week rehabilitation program as well as the main headquarters of Penfield Ministries for registration. Following with the continued expansion of the Alapaha location that currently serves as the long-term men’s program and the Lavonia location that serves as the women’s rehabilitation facility.
For over forty years they have remained committed to helping people find freedom from substance abuse and begin living life again with a growing ministry to meet the needs of the program. At the Union Point Campus, they broke ground on the new educational building in February 2022, where Harbin Lumber donated the trusses.
The 4,200 Sq. ft building will hold 5 private offices for counselors and 1 main classroom. This facility will allow freedom and comfort by moving into a private classroom that was previously being taught in the dining hall. This classroom will be utilized for acknowledgement of addiction, 12 step programs, relapse prevention training, family education for acceptance of recovery and spiritual classes.
At Harbin Lumber Company, we are proud to support and stand beside this facility for what they do in the community and look forward to the continued success of Penfield Addiction Ministries in the future!
